Today, Chaosium put out the shortlist of games that won awards for the Basic Roleplaying Design challenge. Sadly, SagaBorn is not one of them.
But that is not going to stop me!
I am very excited about a few things. Chaosium’s stance on Open Gaming and its use of the ORC License. This allows me to make games with no worries over ownership and gets me away from the corpos at Hasbro and the Big Dragon. Two, the d100 system is skill based and allows for a wide range of gaming. It doesn’t get lost in the weeds trying to make every combat scenario balanced and overly complicated; it sets the stage for a game that can be just as fun and challenging while investigating and in combat.
So with this I officially present the SagaBorn d100 Basic Roleplaying Edition Beta. I am in need of beta testers, assistant game designers, and artists, so if you are interested click below to learn how to join up!
Or just read up more on the system here:
This does not mean it’s the end for SagaBorn d20. I will continue to put out monsters in the Saga zine and develop and publish adventures.

More about SagaBorn d100:
Why use the SagaBorn BRP system?
The Basic Roleplaying Universal Game Engine is a widely known and easily understood Tabletop Roleplaying System featured in systems such as Cal lof Cthulhu or Stormbringer (the Elric Roleplaying game). There are many reasons why the BRP system is great for your table and for us as a small indie developer.
- A classless and levelless system allows for easy gameplay for both players and game masters.
- A d100 skill system is simple to understand. Roll your skill or below for a success.
- Skills level up as you use them, meaning players build their character by using them, not picking a random class at the start of a campaign.
- ORC license certified. Moving away from the broken OGL license, this system is safe for small developers to use without threat from the big Dragon
